Reagan and Dreyton make it home for Christmas

OK, these pictures are in reverse order of how things happened, but I didn't want to take the time to switch them all around, so we start with New Years. We had a quiet New Year's at home (until Carlos and Rivers blew the horns and woke everyone up). Oh, and I dyed my hair almost black a couple days before Christmas. It washes out in 10 shampoos though so I haven't totally commited to dark hair yet.

Rivers and CD in their spots watching Ryan Seacrest usher in the New Year.
We got out our fondue fountain and had flowing waves of cheese to coat our dinner in.

Schatze enjoying the snow we've been blanketed with.

The snow was finally sticky enough to build a snowman - Utah powder is great for backcountry skiing, but is often too dry and powdery for snowmen. The trick is to wait until it starts melting.

More than an armful -- and they only weigh about 6 lbs. I still haven't mastered how to pick one baby up when I already have another baby in my arms and they have floppy necks that need to be supported.

Carlos has a picture of him as a baby in his Christmas stocking, so I took one of Dreyton in the stocking I made for him.

After their first baths at home looking fresh and clean.

I like how their hair gets fluffy after being washed. Yes, Reagan has a little bit of red in her hair.

Here is Reagan enjoying the warm water...they both loved, loved, loved their baths.

I put Dreyton in the water in his clothes because that's how we had to do it in the hospital so they'd always be covered up. It's still a little nerve wracking because they're so tiny and slippery.

Rivers got her wish for Christmas - she said all she wanted was to have the twins home from the hospital. Reagan surprised us all and came home on December 17th and Dreyton followed closely on December 23rd. (I could have taken all her presents back since she got her wish)

I was brave and took the two bitty babies to their first doctors appointment by myself. I got lots of looks and comments as I carried both the carseats by myself into the building instead of using a stroller. I won't be able to do that once they each gain 3 more pounds - good shoulder workout. I got a stroller the next day off of craigslist that you just snap both carseats on and go.

Lots of sippy cups and bottles in this pic. Dwight still won't give his up and says he has a big boy bottle because the twins' bottles are really little that we use to measure fortifier into. It's kind of a pain because we have to give them 4 bottles each a day and add different amounts and different types of fortifier for each baby so my pumped milk will be higher calorie to help them grow. I also have to add sodium chloride to Reagan's milk and multivits to both of them.

This is a good example of their personalities. Reagan is the calmest, quietest baby ever who sleeps through everything, and Dreyton is always wide eyed and won't sleep through anything.

It's fun to think about what it's going to be like when they get older. When Reagan is 13 she's probably going to be very glad she has a twin brother when he has his cute friends over.

Christmas Eve night.

This was our first Christmas at our own house without going anywhere and it was a success. Tyler and Amber came over for breakfast and Carlos' family came over for Christmas dinner. They brought all the food which was the best Christmas present I could ask for.

I take lots of pictures of them in their crib together because I still can't believe I have two of them. This was their first time together in the crib.

Dreyton arrives home just in time for Christmas.

Tyler and Amber visit from Oregon and see the babes for the first time.

CD told me to just put that baby in it's bed when I brought her home and asked me to hold him like a baby, but he's warmed up to them now and is always bringing them toys and blankets and has to watch me change every diaper. I heard him talking to Reagan today saying "hello there cutie baby".

My Mom came and helped for a couple of weeks and we went to see the lights at Temple Square with Tanner and Alissa. The crowds and cold unfortunately made that night not so fun. I felt like turning into a bull so I could just put my head down and run through the hoards of people blocking my way.

First night having Reagan home (December 17th). I think I checked on her every 7 seconds.

And this is how I found Carlos asleep at 3am. This picture doesn't do it justice. I got up in the middle of the night to get a bottle and found him slumped over the foot rest with his head resting on the ground. I took a picture to show him because I knew he wouldn't believe me the next morning.

Taking Reagan from the hospital. Turning off all those monitors was a scary and liberating moment. I bought little breathing monitors for them so I can sleep occasionally.

Nana and Lito make one last visit to the hospital.

Stuff from the last 6 weeks

The bitty babies are now 6 weeks and 5 lbs. It's so fun (and reassuring) to see them fill out and get little double chins. No tubes in this pic! They actually still have feeding tubes, but they were out this night.
We got to give them baths two nights ago and they both LOVED it! This is Dreyton enjoying his spa day.

Reagan wide awake after getting her bath.

Striking a pose.

They look soooo cute when they're snoozing.

Here are some pictures from Halloween. Rivers told me months before Halloween that she wanted to be a runner and I wasn't sure running shoes and shorts would make much of a costume, but we added some accessories and I had my Mom send my first track/cross-country uniform from when I was 7 and she had a great, original costume. Go Timberhill Harriers!
Can't forget the cornrows. She looked so cute.
Dwight was an alligator or a crocodile or a dinosaur or whatever he decided to answer when people asked him what he was.

I made it out of the hospital just in time to see Rivers last soccer game.

I got to go to church with the family again - notice Rivers cornrows lasted a few days

She loved her kinky hair after taking the braids out and didn't want to wash her hair.

Out on the town again.

Before going to Thanksgiving dinner at Christina's house. CD likes to make funny faces now and thinks this is his smile.

Here's another shot of his camera smile. He's so dang cute.

Last day in their incubators. Yeeha!

They've graduated to real cribs and seem so much older all of a sudden.
Oma came for a quick visit.
This picture was just three weeks ago but Dreyton already looks so much bigger than this.

I had to take a picture of Rivers' outfit because she often comes out of her room dressed in what she calls her "hip-hop" clothes and asks me to turn music on for her. She's got some moves.

I pretty much missed the whole summer outside, so we fit in a bike ride before the weather got too cold. Dwight had been asking to go in the bikecart for days and this is how I found him - sound asleep after the ride. Rivers cruised on my old banana seat bike.

Taking a walk along the creek in Sugarhouse park. CD could have stayed and thrown rocks into the water all day.

I like these pictures of them skipping through the leaves.

First time being next to eachother since they shared a womb.

They were about 5 weeks old here.

Another sleeping picture of Dwight. This time eating was just too tiring.
Don't think he just sleeps all day though. This is a better representation of his days. Naked and pretending to be a PowerRanger.
We went and cut down our Christmas tree at this weird little Christmas tree farm that consisted of three rows of untrimmed weird pine trees mixed with a few spruces and they charged $50 bucks. I would love to take people from here to see what a real Christmas tree farm looks like.
We looked at every tree there and finally settled on this Spruce. I really like the sparseness of it and at least we still got to cut it down. The trees out in front of the RiteAid by our house have tags on them from McKenzie Farms. Sounds familiar.

Last Sunday we went on a hike in Millcreek Canyon and it felt soooo good to get out of the city and onto some trails.
It was colder up the canyon than we expected so Rivers put on Carlos' sweatshirt. With her walking stick she looks like a shepherd from the Bible.

This is the beginning of the Pipeline trail called Rattlesnake Gulch. The kids thought it was fun to hike in the snow and I tested my out of shape body by running up the trail for a few minutes. Sorry this post is so dang long. I guess I should update this more than once every 2 months.
